Tourists flock to the Silver Pagoda in Phnom Penh in large numbers. The Silver Pagoda is a beautiful temple that has been built in the honor of Lord Buddha. It also happens to be the unique temple in Cambodia that is patronized by the ruler of Cambodia. The temple is adorned with thousands of silver slabs which are the prime cause for its name of 'Silver Pagoda'.

The impressive statue of the Lord Buddha housed in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple is made of gold of high carat and is the chief reason for beckoning thousands of visitors to the precincts of the temple.

Another spot frequented by tourists Phnom Penh is the grounds of the National Museum of Phnom Penh. The National Museum is an excellent repository of many heritage artifacts, murals and paintings that display the talents of the Khmer people. The repository was constructed in the early part of the twentieth century by the French who had settled in Cambodia and inevitably portray elements of the French style of architecture in its structure.
